Sebastian sits about 20 minutes north of our Vero Beach shop, right where Indian River County starts to feel a little more wild. This is fishing country. The Sebastian River winds through town, Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge sits just offshore, and Sebastian Inlet State Park draws campers from all over the state. RVs are everywhere here, and the problems they run into are specific to this stretch of coast.
The inlet is the biggest draw, and it's also where we see the most damage. Salt spray at Sebastian Inlet is relentless. If you've camped there for even a weekend, your exterior electrical connections, battery terminals, and shore power cord have already been exposed to more salt than most rigs see in a year elsewhere. We've pulled AC condenser coils off rigs parked at the inlet that were so corroded they'd lost 40% of their cooling efficiency. Regular cleaning and inspection is the only way to stay ahead of it.
Sebastian Highlands, the residential area west of US-1, is where we handle a lot of driveway and storage-lot repairs. Folks keep their RVs on their property out here because lot sizes allow it. Common calls include electrical system failures after sitting for a few months, dead batteries, water heater anode rods that have corroded through, and AC units that won't fire up when you finally pull the cover off for a trip. These are all things we can fix on-site in a single visit.
Down along Indian River Drive, you'll find some of the most scenic RV-friendly spots in the county. The drive follows the river, and a few properties let you park a rig with a water view. We've worked on rigs at private lots along this road for everything from plumbing leaks to generator carburetor cleaning. If you can park it there, we can fix it there.
The Roseland area, sitting at the northern edge of the county near the Sebastian River, rounds out our Sebastian coverage. It's a quieter community, but we get calls from Roseland residents who store their rigs on larger properties and need seasonal maintenance before heading out. We also see RVs from Mel Fisher's Treasure Museum visitors who stop in Sebastian as part of a Treasure Coast tour and discover something's not working right.
